Baptism – is the sacrament of rebirth. In receiving baptism, we are united with Jesus in His death and resurrection, cleansed from original sin and personal sins, welcomed into the community of the Church, and more closely related to God.

Every child is a blessing from God and we are happy to welcome them into our parish community as soon as possible. Your baby’s initiation into the Roman Catholic Church requires that you attend a preparation class, be registered in the parish, and prepare yourself for the continuing responsibility of raising your child as a Catholic.

If you plan to have your child baptized at St. Barnabas, please fill out and complete a BAPTISM FORM which can be  DOWNLOADED HERE and submit to the parish office, along with the following documents:

  • Your Child's long-form Birth Certificate
  • A copy of one of the parent's Baptismal Certificate
  • A copy of your godfather's Baptismal Certificate
  • A copy of your godmother's Baptismal Certificate

Baptisms are scheduled every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month at 2:00 PM. Baptismal Preparation classes are held every month.
Dates for Baptisms and the Baptismal Preparation class will be scheduled upon talking with one of the parish priests.

GUIDELINES FOR SPONSORS
We will ask you for the names of one or two sponsors (godparents). Godparents are Catholic witnesses to your child's Baptism. If one of the people you would like to have for a godparent is not Catholic, he or she can be what is called a Christian Witness. Godparents must be practicing Catholics who are not the child's parents and are at least sixteen years old. Christian Witnesses must be Christian.
