Family of Faith Campaign

The Family of Faith campaign has generated excitement here at St. Barnabas. As the campaign moves into its final weeks here, please carefully consider the commitment you can make to this historic campaign, if you haven’t already made one. A pledge, redeemed over a five year period, will enable our parish to do so much! With the parish share, we plan to:

• Develop our youth programs to help our parish youth strengthen their faith and become faith leaders in our community
• Provide catechetical and biblical programs for parishioners guiding them to a deeper understanding of their faith
• Train a great number of our active parishioners to reach out to families who are inactive in the parish. This will allow our parish to become more of a missionary Catholic community
• Replace the carpeting and redesign the sanctuary to provide a greater focus on the altar and tabernacle
• Renovate the leaking Church roof and the stained glass
• Redesign the meeting spaces

You set the terms on what your pledge will be, and how you would like to pay it. Reminder notices can be sent directly to you. Pledges are non-binding…if your circumstances change in the future, you can adjust your pledge.

While we would have liked to visit personally with every parishioner, we know that’s not practical. So, over the next few weeks, parish volunteers will be conducting a phone-a-thon. When you get a call, please be respectful and consider carefully a sacrificial pledge to the Family of Faith campaign.

On behalf of the parish, and all of the volunteers who have helped with the Family of Faith campaign, thank you for your prayers and support of this historic effort!

Our parish goal is: $ 885,000
Our current total is: $539,282

Jubilee of Mercy

The ritual opening of the Holy Door of Mercy at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, December 8, 2015, marks the official start of the Jubilee of Mercy. From that moment, the faithful in every Catholic Church are called to celebrate the Jubilee, particularly through participation in the liturgy. Celebrating Mercy is for all diocesan and religious communities, parishes, and shrines, and includes the official Rite of the Opening of the Door of Mercy in Local Churches.

As Pope Francis says, we are, as a Church, called to “echo the word of God that resounds strong and clear as a message and a sign of pardon, strength, aid, and love.”

Designated Churches for the Jubilee with a Holy Door of Mercy:

St. Paul's Basilica - Toronto

St. Patrick's Parish - Toronto

Merciful Redeemer - Mississauga

St. Anthony of Padua - Bramalea

St. Patrick's Parish - Brampton

St. Theresa's Parish - Scarborough

The Martyr's Shrine - Midland

Marylake Shrine - King City

World Youth Day 2016

Registration and information packages are now available for World Youth Day (July 19 - August 4)

Journey to Krakow Poland with Father Mark to World Youth Day - the international meeting of youth from all over the world, together with the pope in order to profess your faith in Jesus Christ together.

The theme of the XXXI World Youth Day Krakow 2016 is: ‘Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy’ (Mt 5:7). Our Holy Father Francis has chosen the fifth of the eight Beatitudes, given by Jesus in his Sermon on the Mount on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, to show the importance of the Beatitudes which are at the heart of Jesus’ teaching. In his first Sermon, Jesus presents us with eight examples of qualities that bring us closer to the Kingdom of God.

For further details, please contact Fr. Mark in the office at ext. 21
